- No, a voice modem does not magically give you a second phone line. In

- Again the point to remember here is you still have only one phone
- line in this case, and thus can only have one connection at one time,
- be it voice, data, or whatever.

- Many voice modems support Voice View, and there are several DSVD
- solutions around, but no official, ratified, DSVD standard yet.
- This is a good time to point out that DSVD also does not give you
- a second phone line; it allows you to have a voice and data
- connection over the same connection. In other words, with DSVD
- you can talk to XYZ modem company support staff while you are
- downloading the latest ROM upgrade from them, but you cannot talk
- to your mother while you are surfing the internet (unless she
- happens to be in the room, of course).
